The Club is now in its 40th year and the Under 21's are the top team in the 11 year old Allandale Youth Academy.
Having gained promotion in 2009-10 for the 3rd year in succession the 21s now find themselves in the elite West of Scotland Premier Division competing with the "big guns" from the West of Scotland.
Club Chairman and Manager of the 21's Drew Scobbie is building a new squad after the loss of eight players at the end of season 2009-10. This is the first year such a sizeable restructure has been required since the 21s were set up three years ago.
With the departure of so many overage players this term the new squad has been selected from some existing squad players, Steins U19s squad players coming up and also Dunipace Jnrs U19s squad players coming in. The Club has also received a number of enquries from players seeking to join the Club and players introduced to us from other scouting sources.
The new squad needs to be at a level sufficient to compete in the recognised "top" 21s league in Scotland.
The coaching staff will remain as last season with Graham 'Rafa' Wright as Scobbie's 'Wright' Hand Man and Kevin 'Keanu' Valentine in the role of communications guru and player/management liaison. Messrs Friel, MacKenzie, Henderson and Young have all had their lucrative contracts renewed.
The management team has been bolstered by the arrival of Malcolm 'Over Ere' Warham. He will operate as an additional tactical coach with specific duties towards the weekly training schedule and match day focus.
Gavin Young will continue his excellent work with the goalkeepers and Andy MacKenzie will utilise his expertise in match preparation, diet and specialised flexibility training. Vic Friel has taken further motivational speech training and will impart his knowledge and experience to the players (strongly and often).
Danny Henderson continues in the role of 21s Match Secretary for another season having made the job his own for ther last 3 years.
Boss Man Scobbie is relishing the opportunity to "lock horns" with the recognised big names in 21s football and establish Steins as a permanent Premier Division outfit.
