ABOUT THE TEAM

Steins Thistle 99s were formed in November 2006 to cater for a lack of available teams within the area. The focus is on player development with an emphasis on 'fun' football.

We currently play in the Cumbernauld and Kilsyth Soccer Sevens League.

Training is on a Monday and Thursday night at Bankier Primary School Astro Turf. Training is from 1800 until 1900 hours.

Matches take place on Saturday mornings with our home games again played on the Astro Turf and away games throughout the region.

Coaches are Robert Binnie and Eddie McArdle with both SFA certified and Disclosure Scotland checked to Enhanced Level.

Would moving kids' football to a summer game help improve the development of young footballers?
Yes - better pitches mean a better chance to develop technique/skills
No - wouldn't make any real difference to development
Maybe - but I'd be worried about more injuries on firm pitches
